Kristin has been serving the Nixa, Missouri and surrounding communities through All Things New Counseling since 2009
About Kristin McIntyre, MS, LPC, NCC EMDR Certified
Kristin is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Missouri since 2002, which means that she has met rigorous standards for education, examination and practice as set by the state of Missouri. Additionally, to remain licensed, Kristin must meet ongoing educational and practice requirements every two years.
Kristin is also a Nationally Certified Counselor since 2004, which is a voluntary national board certification that requires her to meet additional levels of education and practice accountability as set by the counseling profession represented by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). To remain nationally certified, Kristin must meet ongoing education and practice requirements for renewal every five years.
Additionally, Kristin is a certified PREPARE-ENRICH facilitator since 2008, which is the #1 pre-marital and marriage assessment for over 40 years. It is an extremely useful tool for quickly identifying the underlying issues in couple relationships.
Kristin is also an EMDR practitioner fully certified through an EMDRIA approved program in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). To be “EMDR Certified” requires significantly more education, training, and supervised practice than what is required to be “EMDR Trained.” EMDR Certification also requires additional continuing education to stay current and accountable in the practice of EMDR as part of the certification renewal every two years.
Kristin also maintains voluntary membership with the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA).
Please continue reading below about EMDR qualifications to learn more about the qualitative and experiential difference between an “EMDR Certified” clinician and an “EMDR Trained” clinician.
About EMDR Qualifications
Choosing a therapist certified by an EMDRIA (EMDR International Association) approved program is an excellent way to ensure that they meet the standard and quality of the EMDR therapy you are seeking. EMDRIA “promotes, fosters, and preserves the highest standard of excellence and integrity in EMDR.” (EMDRIA.org)
The terms “EMDR trained” and “EMDR certified” can also be an important consideration regarding the level of training an EMDR therapist has. A clinician who has completed basic training can call themselves an “EMDR trained” therapist and can ethically practice EMDR under their clinical license. However, a “certified EMDR” clinician has gone beyond basic level training and “has opted to meet standards of excellence in EMDR therapy, measured by consultation, clinical practice, and continuing education.” (EMDRIA.org)
Kristin opted to pursue the level of “certification” in EMDR because she did not feel the basic training adequately equipped her to apply EMDR treatment in a wide enough variety or complexity of circumstances for her clients. Going beyond certification standards, Kristin’s ongoing deep dives into aspects such as why and how EMDR works, the causes and effects of trauma, attachment wounds and how and why they present as they do, interpersonal neurobiology and how we can be both damaged, but also healed as our minds interact with other minds, and mind-body-spirit connection in the healing and regulation of the nervous system are driven by Kristin’s passion for her work inspired by the witnessing of how healing occurs in her clients, and Kristin’s philosophy that “the more we learn, the more we realize there is still to learn."
Some other interesting things about me…
I am married for 29 years to a computer geek and Oregon Ducks football fan. We have raised two amazing children together. I’m an introvert and a homebody, and I can entertain myself for hours and days (and probably weeks and months). My husband says I don’t know how to be bored (it’s true). I love to work in my woods, building trails, burning leaves, and hauling rocks uphill (nature’s CrossFit) while bingeing podcasts or audio books—usually stuff related to my counseling work or the reconstruction of my once deconstructed Christian faith.
I became a counselor by accident, which is a fun story especially because of how crazy passionate I am about my counseling work.
I love the mountains and winter and snow, and I miss living in the Pacific Northwest- I’ve lived in the the rugged, wild mountains of the upper panhandle of Idaho (almost to Canada!) and I’ve lived near the Oregon coast. When I travel, I always go west and north. I just hate driving through Kansas to get to there.
About Dewey, Certified Therapy Dog
Dewey is a 22 pound Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He has earned his AKC recognized Canine Good Citizen certificate and Therapy Dog Certificate awarded by the Springfield Alliance of Therapy Pets.
Dewey takes his job very seriously! He loves to greet our guests in the lobby and has a way of helping people relax with his affable personality and his silly antics. He also has a deeply compassionate side. If you are open to his affection, he will sometimes instinctively climb up in your lap and place his paws around your neck and and give you a "hug."
If you have allergies or any other aversions to dogs, please be sure to discuss this with me prior to scheduling any in-person appointments so that accommodations (or referrals to another provider, if necessary) can be made. I also offer telehealth sessions for an allergy-safe alternative.
A Personal Touch in a Comfortable Private Setting
There is a lot of telehealth counseling available out there these days (and I offer that, too), but my All Things New Counseling trademark has specialized in the personal touch of a comfortable, compassionate in-person approach since 2009.
I specialize in treating complex trauma, which is all about healing relationship and attachment wounds, and I have found that doing this work in person is especially effective. Doing this work in person and in partnership with my certified therapy dog, Dewey, is even better!
At the end of 2025 I set out to create an immersive healing experience by building a therapeutic healing haven from the ground up with every detail designed to promote a sense of calm, safety and comfort for soothing the nervous system.
Welcome!
All Things New is wonderfully and discreetly located in a quiet, private location just off the beaten path in the heart of Nixa.
There is an accessible parking spot right at the front door for those who would benefit from this accommodation, and there is plenty of additional parking on site just steps from the front entrance.
As soon as you enter the driveway you will be greeted by soft green grass and different varieties of trees and flowers.
All of the landscaping is intentionally chosen to contribute to a delightful sensory experience of beauty and nature.
Soul soothing, gentle music will surround you as you approach the front walkway.
You are welcome to enjoy the porch rocker outdoors while you wait for your appointment if you’d like.
Pause and notice the butterflies and bumblebees dancing around the flowers enjoying their delightful pollinating party.
Clients regularly comment on their soothing experience of the natural light, relaxing music, and peaceful vibe in the lobby.
As an established client, you will receive a security code to enter the building, and the door will auto-lock behind you.
You will enjoy a peaceful, private and secured lobby with gentle music and pleasant smells.
The windows may be open to let the outdoors in if the weather is agreeable.
If you don’t care for the smell of the essential oil diffuser, feel free to switch it off. We use oils with high quality purity testing, and gentle, calming scents, but preferences can vary sometimes, and we don’t want you sitting in a space where you don’t appreciate the smell!
Help yourself to a drink or a snack
You can’t miss our courtesy bar when you walk in! You’ll find a variety of hot and cold drink options and snacks. Therapy is hard work—let’s do whatever we can to make it a little easier!
There is also an accessible restroom in the hallway to the left as you enter the building—discreet, yet easy to find.
If you don’t see me or Dewey yet, grab a seat and relax in the lobby or on the porch—We will greet you as soon as we are available!
Dewey is my 22 pound therapy dog. He LOVES to greet our guests in the lobby, and no one could possibly be greeted better than with his delighted wiggles. Dewey has a wonderful way of bringing levity to the space and putting people at ease. He also thinks everyone has come just to see him—and some of you probably actually have!
In My Therapy Room…
Comfort is important when you are doing the hard work of therapy. You are welcome to put your feet up, curl up with a blanket, sip a hot (or cold) drink, or love on Dewey, and let me know if there are any adjustments I can make to the space to help you feel more comfortable.
Notice the fuzzy throw on the corner of the couch. It is soooooooo soft and cuddly. Feel free to pull it into your lap or wrap it around your shoulders.
Warmth and softness signal safety to the nervous system.
The work you are ready to do in therapy may be hard, but the space and company you experience with me won’t be!
Heck, yeah- put your feet up!
I chose this ottoman-table for that very purpose!
Feel free to enjoy a Jolly Rancher candy while you’re at it. Intensely sour tastes are grounding and interrupt anxiety loops.
You’ll find my therapy space full of ways to practice regulating your nervous system!
Patio Therapy!
Yes- that’s a thing at my office! If you’d like to engage in “patio therapy,” we’ll just take it outside! The yard is fully fenced for privacy.
Nature is a wonderful resource for grounding the nervous system.
Watch the squirrels outsmart the bird feeder (every single time!).
Speaking of squirrels, watch Dewey chase them as they run along the top of the fence, his floppy ears flying behind him as he tries with all his might.
(Don’t worry- there’s not a chance that he will ever catch them!)
My patio is also a wonderful space to practice breathwork by blowing bubbles.
And it’s hard not to feel a little lift in your spirit when you are surrounded by bubbles!
Pick a juicy strawberry to eat
Stick your toes in the soft green grass
Telehealth Services
Ok, so all this in-person stuff is a great vibe, but if you are still desiring telehealth services, we can absolutely do that! For some people telehealth really IS the best approach.
Maybe you desire my services, but you don’t live close by, or it is a hardship for you to travel to the physical office. Maybe you just feel safer meeting from your own home, or you wold like the anonymity of working with a counselor who is further away from where you live, or you just like the telehealth option.
I can serve you via telehealth as long as you are physically located within the state of Missouri at the time of your services with me. I also have clients who sometimes prefer the flexibility of switching back and forth from an in-person meeting when it works well for them, and telehealth when they cannot get away from work or make it to my office for a session. It can be a wonderful benefit to have the flexibility to do this rather than having to miss a session!
There are sometimes cases in which telehealth may not be an appropriate approach, but if someone is a good candidate for it, telehealth can be the right choice for their circumstances.

EMPOWERING
We will talk a lot about “what is RIGHT with you!”
You’ve probably spent enough time asking yourself, “what is WRONG with me?” This can lead to discouragement, despair, and an inability to see a path towards change. When we talk about what is RIGHT with you, you will become more aware of your positive qualities, assets, and resources, which will help you feel empowered to confront and resolve difficult circumstances.
HOLISTIC
My holistic view of the human condition considers the entire person- body, mind, and spirit –with the perspective that addressing these aspects together provides the most thorough and effective treatment approach.
The counseling methods I use inherently honor the mind-body-spirit connection
Employing concepts from Interpersonal Neurobiology, Polyvagal Theory, Sensorimotor Psychology, Internal Family Systems/Ego State work, and EMDR in my therapy approach helps you experience healing via increased attunement to how your nervous system, mind, and body hold emotions and sensations and how your system relates to and responds to other people’s systems. Through this process, the holistic connection between mind-body-spirit is integrated. You are able to move from a closed, defensive stance towards self and others to a more open stance towards self and others. My clients have described this healing process as helping them connect with self, others, nature, and God.
I am also respectful of a variety of additional kinds of healers and health-building approaches which my clients may be simultaneously desiring to pursue, such as nutrition and digestive health, functional medicine, massage therapy, acupuncture, energy work, or hormone balancing. I offer referrals to providers of these types if desired.
HUMOR
Sure, we will be talking about serious stuff, but there may be moments where humor is helpful along the way!
Laughter increases the release of endorphins, eases pain, and induces a sense of relaxation while reducing feelings of stress, depression, and anxiety.
And also…laughing is just FUN!
